Team Possabilities: Women’s Cycling Clinic

Recently I documented a local women’s cycling clinic event organized by Team Possabilities. This was the 2nd year that they held the clinic and the turnout was great! Women from all over the Inland Empire were taught group riding skills, pedaling efficiency, group ride etiquette, pacelines, gear selection, bike fit position, race strategy, cornering, attacking/counterattacking, bridging, sprinting, time trial starts, and more. I even learned a couple of things myself!

Katie + Jusin = Married!

Katie and Justin married at the beautiful Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden. Had a great time documenting their wedding and feel privileged to have been a part of their beautiful celebration. Epiphany

Alright, I admit it, I suppose I’m not always the best patient. I was told by the doctor and my massage therapist that I should wear fitted shoes (aka yucky, non-fashionable, tennis shoes) with an arch to help the foot that I broke back in November. It’s not that I’m stubborn or uncooperative, I just wasn’t convinced that shoes with an arch would help, figuring it would just take time for my foot to heal. Well this past weekend I shot a wedding and stood for a good part of 7 hours. That night and the following day, my foot ached in a very bad way and my limp was back. Argeth! Out of desperation I finally broke down yesterday and went to the sporting goods store to look for sandals with an arch (yup, still not thinking straight). As I tried on different pairs, it felt a little better but my foot still hurt to walk on. Last minute I thought maybe I should check out some tennis shoes. Not really for my foot’s sake, I just remembered seeing somewhere advertised those new shoes that’s supposed to help shape your legs as you walked– wanted to see if it really worked since my legs could use some shaping up, lol. Well let me tell you, those things for someone like me is dangerous! They are like tennis shoes on heels and as I walked, I wobbled, yeah, I’m smart enough to know that would not be a good idea. Suddenly, something caught my eye. Black Asics tennis shoes. Figuring that it wouldn’t hurt to try them on, I did and a sudden revelation (insert flashing lights) occurred to me– I strutted down the shoe aisle with practically zero pain!!! Wow! Really? This is what I’ve needed all along! Hmmm, I guess the experts do know what they are talking about, ha!

Here they are, Asics GT-2150. You’ll be seeing me sporting these puppies a lot in the next few weeks. My new motto, comfort before style (as long as it looks fairly decent with what I’m wearing).

What can I say, I’m blessed to work with the best couples. Meet Sarah + Mark, they are no exception, these two are the sweetest couple! There are people that when you meet them for the first time you form a connection, there’s just something about them that you like. I met Sarah at a bridal show– I found out that she, like me, graduated with an Art Degree– it’s no wonder I liked her straight away! Later, she and Mark came in for a consultation and I knew they were going to be great to work with. We had our first photoshoot a couple of weeks ago, and just as I predicted, they were just fantastical! Down to earth, easy going, and in love, I didn’t have to direct them much, the camera caught the bond that they share– and we all know, the camera doesn’t lie! Ha! I have another prediction– their wedding this coming Saturday will be a blast, simply because, that’s how they roll.

It’s been so long since I updated that I almost forgot the password to my blog, lol. I’ve been a wee bit busy completing / moving into our newly rebuilt home. After 488 days of being dislocated, I’m happy to say that we are finally back home and it feels like we never left! More on that on another post.

I’ve been shooting headshots lately, must be that time of the year for actors/actresses. If you are in need of current headshots, give me a call or e-mail, I’m currently offering a special.

Wedding: Lisa + Kevin

What a gorgeous couple Lisa + Kevin are. An intimate wedding with 7 special guests, I must say, it was a nice change. Even though it was a very intimate wedding, Lisa and Kevin did not spare on the details as you will see in the pictures below. This was shot at a golf course 5 minutes from my home, closest venue I’ve shot at thus far. Congrats Lisa + Kevin!

Hearty Kale and Navy Bean Soup

My friends on Facebook begged for this recipe and I’m sharing it here as well since I know that once the word got out, my blog friends will want it too, ha! Actually I think they are just trying to amuse me since they know I’m not much of a cook. Enjoy! Let me know if you try it and what you think

Hearty Kale and Bean Soup

1 C. Chopped Onions
2 Medium Cloves of Garlic, minced
1 Tb. Olive oil, optional
5 C. Water
2 C. Cubed Potatoes
2 Cans Navy Bean, Cannolini, or Red Kidney Beans
3 C. Chopped Kale (packed)
1 1/4 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Cumin
2 Tb. Nutritional Yeast Flakes (health food store carries this, can be optional)
1/4 tsp. Cayenne Pepper (optional)

In a large soup pot, saute onions and garlic in olive oil OR just add them directly to 5 C. water with potatoes and beans and bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and lightly boil 10 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and cook covered an additional 10-15 minutes until potatoes are soft.

For the third year in a row our family celebrated the New Year by attending the Cervantes|Guerrero New Years Eve costume party. Something we always look forward to– complete with food, disk jokey, games, a costume, and a dance contest, we had a blast! Matt dressed up as Kramer from Seinfeld, me as Edna Mode of the Incredibles, Krista as Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Kayla as Shirley Temple. Following are some point and shoot picts. BTW, Krista won a $25 gift certificate for “Best Costume”. Happy New Year everyone!
